milliong the head down to bolt up a single 2bbl might be a good start. even using a 2bbl adapter plate. also a combustion chamber mill to up the compression would be a good thing to have done while the heads off

well right now im on a budget because of my work hours(low durring fall and winter). most of the parts i need i can get them realy cheap from the used car dealership in town. the guy there deals with mainly classic cars.

could some one at least give me a ball park price range to have my head milled down:feedback:

    http://kastang.tripod.com/offenhausermod.html

i always thought they cut the whole intake off and then bolted on the 3x1 intake...

thats pretty cool, there alot of money tho. its prolly more worth while to go 302.

people who build 6's dont do it for the impressive power they make nor the low budget it takes to build one.

you build up a 6 cause you just want to be diffrent more then anything

i'll just get a 2v carb conversion adapter from classicinlines.com(whole lot simpler) its the one for the log intake. i tell my buddy at the classic car dealership to keep an eye out for a 2bbl 350 cfm holley. witch is better solid or hydrolic lifters? i was going to put comp cam high energy solids in it.

im running that adapter plate with a holley 5200. i never tried the 2300 but i can definatly vouch for the 5200 being a very good carb for the money and since its progressive, if your easy on the throttle it wont hurt your MPG's at all.

the 2300 is sopposivly more performance oriented but you definatly see more of a drop off in fuel economy

The Holley 5200 can also be mounted lower by milling the manifold log flat far enough on either side of the hole to open it for two venturis. Then a flat adapter can be used to mount it at manifold level instead of on a spacer type adapter. It is more efficient than going from a two barrel to a one barrel hole in the manifold with the adapter.
Personally, I like the Holley 2300, list # 0-80120, 350 cfm for 200 and 250 cu " sixes as long as you aren't turning more than about 5500 rpm. The cable throttle cable and cable TV will get you going even with an automatic.

Remember that you can over-carb a motor. You need to make it breath well for all that CFM to be beneficial.
