I have a 75 mav 2 door. I feel shes got alot of torque. Is there anyway i can convert that into like more pick up/power/speed lol? or are there add ons and modifications i put on my car to enhance its performance/power. Im going for quick pick up and speed.
If your engine is stock, you should do things to help it breathe. A free flowing air cleaner and housing along with dual exhaust/free flow muffs are minimal mods that will help. A 4v intake/carb, along with headers and dual exhaust are a little more work, but wake up 302s real nice for daily driving. After that, if you don't want to get into the engine itself, getting a little more aggressive with the rear gear is a big boost. Losing weight always helps... 100 lbs = 10 rwhp, effectively. Big bumpers are big weight. You can gut them and slide them, or swap them for small bumpers and get a cheap boost in power.
The best bang for the bucks is lower gear ratio (higher numerically) The Maverick's came with 2.79 to 1 ratio...find a 3.00 or 3.25 gear set. You gas mileage will drop a bit but you will have the gitty up 'n go.
lol i would do that but i cant risk the drop in gas mileage. if i had a job any job for one maybe but yea i dont have a job so gotta be really careful with the way i spend money lol
A 3.00 gear set came in alot of stock mavericks. It would help with seat of the pants power and not hurt mileage much if any. Did you say it was a 6yl?
i really cant feel much diffrence between a 2.79 or a 3.0. if i was going to go through the trouble i'd atleast put 3.50's in there you may not realize this but there is usually a direct relationship between how fast your car goes and how much gas it uses
yea its a I6 speaking of which the hooker 6901's only come for 8cyl dont they? thats all i see or am i wrong?
i think everyone was just assuming you had a 302 for a 6 cyl you best bet is gears if you want to accelerate faster but your going to be sacrificing fuel milage on the highway
