well i got the exhaust welded up, but a bit too late(got dark outside) and i couldn't weld them to the car. -i installed the new brake hoses then went to put in new fluid and it leaked all over the place now i need to rebuild the master cylinder or buy a whole new one....just when i ran out of money. -the dipstick on my tranny said it needed more fluid, so i put in a quart and it spit it out some were behind the pan...hope its an overflow. -also had a vacuum leak *alredy fixed -then i wired up the new 3g alternator, fired up the engine and it charged perfectly....then when i turned off the car the engine kept on turning over very slowly and the warning light on the dash was still on...think i have to wire in a resistor......and finally my tach stopped working, i checked all the connections and it still wont work....hope i got a warranty heres a vid i made this is with single 2 1/4 exhaust tomorrow i'll post a pic with the new flowmasters.....and it was dark so the video sucks . http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/misc.php?do=dow
justed looked up the master cylinder $30 not to bad.... http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=430&CatId=3&SubCatId=3 question is there a gasket between the MC and the booster?
I sware it felt like I would take a step forward and then take three backwards for awhile. Sounds like you in the same place, don't worry ot will come together fast.
Thanks, yeah i'm trying to get as much stuff done by this afternoon since its supposed to rain today were we live until like saturday.
Well now i got a new MC in... painted the kick panels and grills... ...the mav is now supporting itself for the first time in 5 years, man these mav's sit low... but now my carb developed a problem after idling for 30-40 seconds it turns off and if I hit it WOT it stalls.
You are making progess,, could have been air in your trans to make it burp back out, sometimes you have to idle it and shift thru drive and reverse to alleviate that. Maybe you have hot still going to ignition after you shut it off, maybe a resistor could be the answer, but I would check the voltage when off to the starter. Maybe you have an obstruction in the tank not to allow enough fuel flow, happens alot with cars that have sat under construction. Dan
mine was a plug and play... i would check and see if it is wired correctly....i have the wireing diagram somewhere. i'll post it if i can find it. i got it from someone on the board. Frank...LMAOD
The best advice I can give you is what my brother who has done tons of cars said , "Don't look at the whole thing but, look at it like alot of little jobs and finish them one by one". This advice helped me alot not to get down in the dumps cause it is at times one step forward & two back. Best Of Luck!
Thanks Guys Alternator is working fine now, and i think the carb does have a fuel delivery problem ,going to go buy a pressure and vacuum gauge right now.
Alot of times fuel problems are the cloth filter on the sending unit in the tank. Kind of a pain but drain tank and pull sending unit + drop tank & clean it out. You'll be alot more happy later for doing it. Good Luck!!
