ok, i stand corrected. my car only has the Driver's side floor brace, and is missing the passenger side. weird huh?? now i need to find someone that is parting out a bucket seat car with that brace.
im thinking that LDO cars should have the same braces and if that's the case those arent hard to find
The '72 LDO Comet I just parted out had those braces and extra bracing on the bottom of the floor. It was extra bracing for the buckets it had. I cut out the entire floor before it went away and plan on using them in my Sprint when I install the buckets. They probably, as stated, are in all LDO bucket seat cars. Jim
I have a set of LDO buckets from a '72 LDO Comet which I removed in the junkyard. It was a 4 door factory 302/floor shift car. It did NOT have those braces.
I stripped a 71 Bucket seat car and it had the braces. I cut them out and still have them somewhere. My 71 GT has them.
I just checked and my '72 Comet GT has the braces, too. I couldn't tell for sure on the '71 Grabber since it still has the carpet in it, but the shape of the carpet made it appear it may have them, too. Interesting how some bucket seat cars would have them and others not. Jim
mine was a bench seat.. and it didnt have the bracket either. by the way. 71 mustang floor boards work great.. www.mustangsunlimited.com they have patch floor panels, or the entire drivers side, or the entire passengers side.. i used them in my car. worked great with a little trim to fit
At some point, they changed the shape of the front floorboards. In my 77, the floorboard is all one piece with no welded in brace, but matches the height of that brace in my 71 Grabber. Personally I like the one-piece design better, not sure that it really makes much of a difference in strength though.
