Post that info so that I can see if it's worth the cost since I am going to be investing in that area also...

You can take your springs to any spring shop and have them rearched for a fraction of that cost. I had a set dearched (lowered) and it cost me $20.

so have any air shock fans out there ever been motivated enough to try to reinforce the mounting area enough to be able to run air shocks?

yes they come with the aluminum bushing. you can tell them you want the car lowered they will set them. how low compared to stock? depends on your leaf springs now.

btw these are not the best ride for a everyday car.

as far as 15x7s or 15x4.5 what are you planing to do with this car? drag only? daily driver? what? IMO anything smaller then a 15x6 sucks on a everyday car. i'm not saying yo can't cuz i did at one time. but personally i like a car to handle for an everyday car.

For a straight line toy, I like the skinnies. Just keep in mind your front tires do most of the braking in a hard stop. less contact = less traction. Same is true for hard turns. I like them, but you should to alter your normal driving style a bit to compensate. I would not recommend pie cutters on a daily driver.
Longer shackles and air shocks are wrong on so many levels, Dont feel bad for mentioning it though, I think we have all had them at one time or another before we knew better. I know I did 20 years ago.

I dont think anyone is going to admit to being an air shock fan.

i had air shocks on my 1970.5 camaro in highschool and they were fine...granted i didnt know a damn thing back then even though i had the fastest car at my school hehehe.

i'll probably get 15x7 for now and swoop a set of 4.5s with skinnies to swap out for strip nights. my buddy has a full set of weld prostars on his duster but he wants som 18s for it and he said he'll sell me his welds for cheap. im not building this car to hit corners. my daily is an e30 bmw and its a handling madman. the main role for the comet will be lots of drag time, im sure i'll drive it to work a few times a week and i go to lots of the local car shows etc...

once i get my new wheels/tires on i'll see how it sits and go from there as to how much lower i want to go. the rough ride doesnt bother me for a daily. not so long ago i had an rx7 with REAL stiff coilovers/solid bushings/etc and i daily drove that...im only 24, rough rides and loud cars dont bother me. function over comfort any day of the week.

Depending on how much daily driving you do,,,, Aluminum bushings are going to wear on you,,,,, lots of driving,,lots of wear

ok,,see that the beemer is daily driver,, missed it at first!
