How Did Yours Start Out?

It is apparent that many owners have altered their cars to their personal taste. What did you start with, a basic model, I6, auto,etc.?

If you had it to do over, would you make changes to what you did?

Any future changes?

when i got mine it had a trashed puke green interior, didnt run, was the nastist color of yellow with a white top and had big bumpers. still has th 250/c4 under the hood, but now its a 2v 250

obviously its not "done" but its definatly come a long way

mine was originally blue, but the previous owner painted it ugly light blue, now it's painted mineral gray with 70 grabber hoodstripes, blackened tailight panel. The interior will be redone, it's blue now, gonna be black. About performance mods, none hasn't been done yet. I know it's wrong painting it first and work it later, but it had major rust, now the body's like new.

 

the 77 started as a fairly clean 250- 6, automatic, bought for the "then" girlfriend (now wife)...she drove it for several years stock until we started working on it,then it evolved to a pretty nice car.

the 72 started as a rolling shell, with no drivetrain,and a clean title, brought it home, gutted it,and went from there. once its done it will be a very nice car.

Heres where it was sitting for 6 years after coming from California, It was owned by his grandmother since new.
1973 Grabber, 302, Air, Power steering, Bench seat interior. Mostly original paint. $1973.00 with one small rust spot on the passenger side quarter panel.

 

It started as a badly rusted '75 Maverick with a 250 i6 and a C4.

Now it is a badly rusted '75 Maverick with no motor.

But soon to be a badly rusted '75 Maverick with a 302 roller with a C4.



I get to pick up the motor tomorrow

Mine is pretty much the same as when I bought it with the exception of new wheels (daisey mags), a small bumper swap, and a radio install with speakers in the kick panels that I made using stock mav panels and some speaker grill covers from a jeep wagoneer.

 

mine was a 170 3speed column shift that was modified to a floor shift before i got it.
front brakes were siezed, no gas tank, had a boat tank in the trunk. everything was painted flat black, the trim, the rims, the door handles, even the bumpers

there is speculation that the car was used as a shine runner in the back hills of kentucky since it was all blacked out.

i put in a 302, c-4 and had it running great. never got around to getting the body work done, since i dont have an air compressor, welder, etc to get the stuff done it needed. i wish i could have painted it.

 

First two pics are of my '72 how it looked when I drug it from Charlotte, NC to Murphy, NC. It has a title but the notary seal has expired and the title was never transfered over, so the title is basically no good and the previous owner was using it as a parts car. I bought the car on December 1, 2005 and gave $100 for it.

Second picture is as I was swapping the engine from my '74 Grabber over to it in my grandpa's field near Murphy, NC on December 23, 2005.

Last picture is what the car looks like now. I have put 51,000 miles on the car since putting it back on the road.

 

Thats some "garage" you got there LOL did you push the car under the hoist? Can't imagine the hoist would roll very well? Reminds me of my old "garage".

Wife and I are moving to our new (to us) home in town this weekend, I'll have a 2 car garage!!

Guess what car will be garaged between my Focus and the Comet!
