i have a really cool idea (i think) i seem to work on dodge vans all the time and on the rear quarter glass there is a little electric motor that opens and shuts the rear glasses with a switch. this would be super cool on a 2 door mav. just some food for thought. these little motors are not expensive either
You are absolutely right. Tom Hackmann did that on Tammy's Mav, probably his too. (I'm sure I'm screwing this up some). The first one he did was using the manual mechanism, the next one was power. I just can't remember if he re-did Tammy's or did his with the power setup. I do remember it was from a Dodge minivan. I would like to do it too, but I'll probably remember after I put the headliner in.
Yeah, like what year vans have these? What are the part numbers for the electric motors? Would you have to use the latch from the van, or could it be attached to the Maverick latch, etc, etc. A pic of the motor would be nice too, to see if it's small enough to hide behind the headliner or what...
That does sound very cool. I'd probably open my quarter windows alot more often if I could just hit a button and open them... Right now they usually only get used when someone is in the back seat. I never bother to open them myself.
all of the 06 and below style vans, the new ones roll down!! and have a table in the rear(only in a dodge) i can get the p/n tommorrow and if they arent to expensive, ill order a couple to see how hard it would be to fab up, i also think the latch on the mav will work
You know, now that I think about it, we rented a Dodge Grand Caravan in June of 2005 that we (well I drove 95% of the way) drove up to Rockford, Illinois and back. I distinctly remember the rear windows opened out electronically on it. Looks like it's time to hit up some junkyards.
Wife's Ford Windstar(1999) has those also, I had thought about that for a minute, then decided it didnt make the car go any faster so screw it...
ok i priced them at work today, list cost is 112.00 per side, but i can get em a little cheaper. these would be super easy to make work. and they came on most of the dodge vans after the box style vans, so getting them from a junk yard woudnt be that difficult
