I like that! Did it come stock on our cars? All the ones I have seen are the flimsy little ones with the 2-spokes with the long horizontal horn on them.

Just a heads up for those that like that wheel:
They were used briefly in the mid-late 70s on some Stang2s, F150s, and were an option on the Stallion.

After I saw this thread, I started thinking about what other wheels were available on our cars over the years... There were actually more than I realized.
There was the really plain basic Pinto, Maverick, Stang version that had the 2 thin spokes and round horn.
Then there was the more common version that had the 2 spokes padded all the way across with the horn in a long strip.
Then around 75 or so, they modified that with slight angles on the ends of the 2 spokes turned down. Much like every other Ford wheel of the time.
Then, my absolute... hands down favorite, the Rimblow 3 spoke.

All on top of the sport wheel that is the topic of this thread.

That makes 5 wheels on Mavs over the short lifespan.

Are there any others we can think of???

    WAIT!
    There is a 6th!
The 69.5 2 spoke with the horn ring around the bottom of the wheel...

    Edit:
Now I am compelled to search for pics of each!
I'll post what I find, unless others beat me to it. ;)

Here is mine in our '72 2 door. It is out of a 1980 Mustang, so it dosen't have a built in horn button, and the rear plastic collar is slightly bigger then the Maverick's steering column. Can't complain since I only gave 9 bucks for it in a junkyard. The horn is wired to the windshield wash button through a relay.

I have one of the good sport wheels with the horn button in it that will be going in my '73. I pulled it out of a '77 Mustang II and gave 9 bucks for it also.

Everybody seems to like Sport Wheels. I have had several people in my car who were not even "car people" say they like how the steering wheel looks.

That is the horn that our '72 had in it originally from the factory.

Here is the wheel that came from the factory in my '73 4 door. (it was in my '69.5 when the pic was taken, so disregard the rest of the interior)

A '79 Cobra would be a Fox Body car and have the later style sport wheel with no horn in it. It would also likely be black, like the one I have in my car. Some very early '79 Cobra's did have silver sport wheels, but they still had no horn (you push in on the turn signal lever for the horn).
