This isn't a classified add, but I'm curious to know what my car would sell for. I'm in some financial straits and was just wondering. 1974 Maverick 2-door. 200 ci engine w/ C4 Transmission, repainted, rebuilt carb. New dist. cap, rotor, points, condensor, wires, plugs. Excellent rust-free southern frame. Rebuilt shock towers are rock solid. Interior from 1-10 is 8, black w/ LDO trim, no headliner installed yet. Trunk has some rust holes, but plan on patching. Have new paint for it and plan on painting before selling (if I do). Has rebuilt quarters. New brakes, new shocks, new exhaust. Manual steering, tight No A/C installed, but was an A/c car Clear title. Glass is good. Body is fairly straight, not perfect, but am in the process of repainting it. New fenders. Front seat has been recovered, back seat is like new. Cowling does leak. Suspension is good, needs new Driver side upper ball joint. Drives like a tank! Awesome running/driving car. I believe I mentioned all the goodies people are looking for. Any questions, please feel free to ask. If for the right price, I would consider selling. (not that I want to). Remember, this is not for sale! I'm just looking for a price that the car is worth so I have some idea what to expect if I do sell it. Thanks. Also, has anyone ever seen the chrome trim around the tailights on a Maverick before? Is it rare, b/c my car has it. View attachment 21434
My was an LDO car, but a previous owner gutted the car and my brother installed a black interior. Dash is from an LDO car, already had the holes drilled for the LDO trim. So I bought the LDO trim from Tim Keck and put it in. Used to have the outer LDO side trim, but was removed by previous owner and filled in. Never knew it had that till I looked inside the trunk and noticed the patched holes.
To answer your question...not worth as much as it is worth to you That is a major problem with our mavericks and comets...we sink lots of time, money, and love into them but their resale value is really pretty low. You might be able to get $1000-1500 for it. Just my guess. But you, me, and everyone on this board KNOWS it is worth more than that
To anwser your question and keep in mind this is only one persons opinion: With the present condition of the car I don't think it would bring any more than about $1500-$1800. It still has some expensive rust issues and with it being a big-bumper, 6 cyl car, it's not that highly desirable. Hope that didn't disappoint you too bad. On the other hand, a car is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it and in some areas where they are more scarce, people may pay more, other places less. Watch the ones similar to it selling on eBay and you'll get a real good idea of the cars actual worth. Good luck
Hey...now I know why they call him Scooper. He beat me to the answer you wanted while I was being a slow typist. He probably uses more than two fingers.
1000-1500 due to the paint condition, rust issues, and interior condition. get it painted, clean up the engine bay, and clean up the interior... it will go higher. and just like it was said already, you will get what someone is willing to pay for it
I think I'll hold off on selling it then. So far, I'm getting between $1000-$2000 from y'all. So, my next question is, what would it be worth with a 302 engine and AOD transmission under the hood with 3.55 gears in the rear? And with the new paint and cleaned 'er up? I'm planning on getting the motor soon and might be able to put it in by this time next year.
Condition of the body and interior will drive up the price way faster than mechanicals will ... Unless you are getting the 302/AOD and 3.55 rear for free or almost free .. you'll never get your money back out of them. Proabably make more selling the 3.55 seperate ...
Agreed on this,,, scrimp beg steal,,hold on to it till you get ahead. Any bucks you put in will not pay out. Plus,,,you'll always regret selling it. Another thing I always ask is,,,the money you get from this, will you be able to buy what you have now? Good Luck
Have those rear quarters already been repaired....cause I see "pop rivits" and that is going to scare any potential buyer....as well as the cowl rust. Right now.....$1000 max.
Personally, I wouldn't even give $1,000 for it. I've got much nicer cars for $500. That car looks to have major rust issues.
I'm with Jamie on this one .. Leaking cowl and riveted 1/4 panel patches is on the brink of being a parts car ... what do the floors look like?
