here's a pic of what i believe to be the brake light switch (from descriptions on here) is there anything you can see is wrong with it? my brake lights are staying on, even if i hold the pedal all the way up towards the steering wheel. could it be something else? http://www.motortopia.com/album/view/p/cars/t/vehicle/v/1069/a/7048/i/misc_stuff
Hey bigkat what I would do is unhook the wires from the switch and short them out if the lights come on when you short them and are off when they are not shorted my guess is your switch is bad.
yes take the wires off the brake light switch... run a jumper wire from wire to wire.. have someone check the lights and see if they come on.. if the lights come on.. the brake light switch is bad. if they do not come on, then you have a short somewhere, or the lights themeselves are bad dont leave that jumper wire in place too long.. you dont want to short the system out
I do not remember how the switch is wired. But more than likley there is a plug that pulls off the switch. When you pull the plug off see if the lights go out. Then take a wire and short out the plug. By taking a wire and put into each side of the plug at the same time. If the lights come on when shorted I would say the switch is bad.
well, i went back out to check them with the switch unplugged and before i even unplugged it they were out. couldnt get them to come back on. im suspecting the switch is bad. anyone have a part number for the switch?

you might want to check now and see if the bulbs are bad...if they have been on a while they may be blown ... ...
