I installed accell electronic ignition, I did not remove the distributor. When I started I put the harmonic balancer to tdc and rotor pointed to number 1. When I checked the timing afterwards the mark showed up way left of the pointer, like around the 10 oclock pos. Shouldn't it be at the pointer? Also the vac. advance has two hoses front one is to carb, top one is plugged? Will this affect the timing. Thanks, this forum is really helpful I have learned a ton just by reading it.
That is a dual-diaphragm vacuum advance. One hose (the center) goes to a timed port connection on the carb, and the other hose connects to a full manifold vacuum connection...
He's got the vacuum connected right. The rear port goes to the vacuum switch on the T-Stat housing and that is connected to full manifold vac. Do not connnect the rear to full vac directly. The timing probably changed due to the electronic conversion unit's firing point being different in relation to the rotor vs where the points were.
T.L. I see you're in S. Colorado I was up there last weekend. I think i dragged the cold weather back with me. 40* here today in south Louisiana
