Edelbrock for reliability. Holley for performance.

There is a little stud that sticks up in the middle of the carb.
It goes through the hole, about 5/16" diameter, in the lid of the air cleaner.
Of course there is a base that goes under the lid too, don't forget that.
Wing nut on the stud when it is sticking through the lid, and wa-la!
    :rofl2:

Boy, I got a bad case of smarta$$ tonight...

Seriously, though, it fits perfectly and hides nicely under there.

NOTE: He said it was an 1850. I tried the "hide the 4 barrel under the factory 302 2V stickered air cleaner" and it will not work with the street avenger due to the dual feed setup and center hung float bowls. Well at least with mine it wouldn't. If someone else did it successfully, please tell what you did to do so.

Nah, Just grabbed the 14x4 K&N and extreme filter top off the Dakota and away I went. Forgot to mention that I thought it would be more fun to install a new intake and holley the afternoon before I roled out to OKC the next morning. I was already low on sleep and WAY short on time, read as not thinking as clear as I should have and just grabbed what was already at the house. And, no, the Dakota never got it back. But now that I have a bit more time I might try :smash: dinging it in and out and around and what ever else fits. Which means I might pull the new 1850S off of the GMC and put the 670 on it, it could use it, much fatter cam and 50 more cubes of displacement might be a better place for each holley.

hey, i'm a new member and saw that you have a 351 w mav. and was wondering if you could shed some light on the frame-mounts to use.
I have a 1970 mav and i intend on puting a 351 w, but I don't know what mounts to buy or where. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    JerryP

I had a 0-9834, which is basically a 1850 with Ford kick-down linkage and electric choke, and it would not work with my stock air cleaner. I think a stock air cleaner with the lid chrome-plated looks great, and you can remove the little noise baffle for better air flow...

My 72 has the smaller/taller looking housing compared some other years I have seen pics posted of here.
    Maybe that is the difference?
Could also be an electric choke issue for TL.
I haven't tried my 3310 yet. I need to check it now... Has the dual feed and center floats.
I have been toying with the idea of converting the 1850 to center float bowls and secondary block. So I suppose I should check this out before I buy parts.
Regardless, I will get it in there. Even if I have to mod a stock housing or find a year of stock housing that will work.

You just need all the Maverick 302 parts to mount a 351w (or c).
The engine mounts are available at a good price at local stores.
The frame mounts are same on any V8 Maverick/Comet.
The early (66-70) Stang frame mounts are virtually the same on V8 Stangs. They are a 2 pc clamshell style that otherwise is the same as the Mav part. I think the Mav frame stand is one piece because it is more compact in our smaller engine bay. Probably cheaper to make too...

Btw: I know it doesn't help you now, but just a couple days ago I saw a set of Mav frame stands on eBay for 35 bux BIN.
I wish I knew you needed a set, I would have PM'd you a heads up so you could grab them.
Point being is that you can buy new frame stands from AK or Chuck for an arm and leg (plus shipping), or you can keep your eyes open and get them without getting raped.

It wasn't hitting the choke, it was hitting on the float adjustment screws (side-hung). It's a '73 (obviously)....I wonder if there is a difference from '72 to '73...:hmmm:

Crites headers are one part, but they claim they fit either a 302 or 351.
I find it hard to believe.
    And...
I would like to point out that I have only seen one post from someone who bought a set... They bought them for a 302.
So we have yet to find a guinea pig to prove that they fit a 351.
    Wanna be our guinea pig?
