has anyone tried to lower the upper control arm mounting holes 1 inch on a stock mav suspension? total control products sells a jig to do it the right way but they dont advertise it for a mav. they sell one for a 70 mustang, and the upper control arms swap to a mav sooooo.... yeah. if anyone has done this or heard of it, please reply because id like to do it before i drop my motor back in

i was going to do it when i had my motor out but...on my '73 there is a plate welded to the outside of the shock tower. i would have to cut that off to get 3/4". so i didn't do the mod.:yup:

Ive done it. Its a trick my father passed on to me. He has it done to his fairlane too.
Simple to do. Remove spring and control arm. Mark and measure. Use a center punch & drill two 1/2" holes. reinstall. align.

i printed a template and when i put it on my car, i was surprised to find that on the motor side of the shock tower there was two 1/2 inch dimples right where i need to drill the holes.( this is on a 73 4dr ) so then i when and looked on my 74 and it has the same dimples. If anyone knows anything about this, i would really like to know some history about this

I was on bank conversion project with a couple of co-workers. Wound up at a branch in New Iberia on a Sunday morning. When finished we decided to go for a drive and see the gulf. Headed out through Abbeville to Kaplan (almost wrecked our rental car when someone pulled out in front of us) after recovering we continued south to Pecan Island and over to Cameron where we say a hottie in a Corvette.(y) Stopped in Holly Beach at a store/gift shop. It was getting late so we headed north to get back to I 10 when we passed by Hackberry. We were staying in Morgan City and the next night the bartender asked us how our weekend was. We told her about our adventures. She had no idea where Hackberry was!:D
BTW this was in early February so there wasn't much going on. Which is why we got to know the bartender so well.:bouncy:
