Comet GT grill

    Hi,
    I'm restoring a 1971 Comet GT and have to change the grill.I don't know ig the original grill is a black plastic or a grey grill painted black. Someone can help me ?

    If it's a factory GT, the grill & headlite bezels are black. All others had silver/grey...

    But...it can be painted to look like an original GT grill.
    My original GT grill got messed up.

    A GT grill also had 3 pieces of stainless trim across the nose. Easy to see in Seth's picture.

    Stainless strips

    All of the '73 and up GT's that I have seen had no strips. They were only plastic grills in black with silver painted accents. Mine is all plastic.

    Only 71-72 grills have the chrome strip on them

    So how do you prep to paint the grill so paint won't chip off.

    I had a very nice grill that had never been repainted. It was not deteriorated or cracked.
    I washed it, scuffed it up with a scotch brite pad and applied Bull Dog Paint Prep. I then sprayed it with SEMS satin/semi-gloss black and argent.
