OK heres what i need to know, are all power steering pumps created equal? i have a 5.0 bracketry set up in my car and i want power steering but not sure if i can run a 87 93 power steering pump instead of the normal 70-77 maverick pump because 5.0 will bolt directly in any help will be appreciated thanks
Not all pumps are equal, Relief valveing is differnt on some pumps, But i would try the 5.0 pump, I cant see any harm it would do.
is it a "power steering pump" or a "power assist pump" if it makes the same pressure and the hookups are the same...go for it... ...frank...
I have an 88 5.0 motor in my 71 with the 88 pump to the 71 power assist unit an have no problems outher than fittings for the pressure line thx jay
so jay ur running factory power steering slave cylinder and all"? with 88 pump ...thats whats im looking to do
YES i used 88 pump an 71 slave an control valve . I went to a hydraulic hose shop with fitting off the pump an fitting off control valve an they hook the two fittings with a lenght of hose an the damn thing worked with no leaks yet !!!! jay
