Found another Maverick over the weekend sitting behind a garage about 20 miles away from me. come to find out, it's an original '72 model and original V8 car. first of the vin was 2K93F******. i got to looking at the car (which was complete from front to back, just needed some body attention and missing grabber hood) and i noticed that the interior which consisted of bench seat and column shift in a nice medium blue color. it was kinda weird to me at first because every Grabber that i have ever seen has had the famous 'Grabber Bucket Seats' and Floor Shift transmission. :drive:

so i was wondering, was buckets and floor shift another option even with the Grabber package? does anyone have a list of options for the 70-73 mavericks handy? i'd like to know as much as i can about them:thumbs2:

Yeah, I was surprised the first time I saw a stripped out Grabber.
So, yes, they could be had with only the Grabber appearance package and no other bells and whistles.
Bucket seats were purely an option for any Maverick, Grabber or not.

Can't get any plain-janer than my Grabber when I first got it ... The only option it had was an Automatic tranny ....

That was a 1971 era aftermarket Cruise Control .... installed by the original owner.

.... and I think the 170 was standard ... my invoice shows it was $39 extra for the 200 in my car ...

Was it vacuum operated? I bet that is tucked away in a box somewhere at home, huh? Probably a rare part.

No vacuum ... some sort of electric and cable hookup as far as I remember. The car was not running when I got it and since I was doing a V8 swap just about everything in the engine compartment was thrown in the dumpster .. including the box on the firewall and the controller that was mounted on the inside ....

My first grabber was a 72 302 auto on column bench seat car. My current 72 grabber is a 200 6 cyl, auto on column bench seat car. Of the early grabbers, before 1974, from what I have seen they are mostly bench seat cars. Most 74 and 75 grabbers I have seen are bucket seat cars. Interesting find you have there!

i'm going to try to buy it if i can convince the owner to part with it. but if nothing else, he's needing some parts to continue working on it so i'll try to help him out even if i can't buy it. either way, ill do what it takes to keep this mav alive (y)

    Radio was surely an option...
Was carpet an option in 72, or was it standard by then?
How about heater, was it ever an option?
I know you could order cars 'heater delete' back then.
