    k thanx...do i need a new trans crossmember when i swith to a 302? ....do i even have one now. i just got my mav 2 weeks ago so my knowledge is still in it's infancy

    No you do not need a new crossmember, and yes you have one now.

    Edit: I would assume you have one now... Unless your transmission is sitting on the ground.. haha

    Youll need a V8 cross member so you can run dual exhaust the 6 cyl fits but the header or pipe will run right into it, or you can crimp your exhuast

    you only need the double hump cross member to help with running duel exhaust. If you run a single exhaust you can use the one you have.

    so all i need is a 302 and the correct motor mounts and i'm set to go(mounting wise...obviously other things need to be done)

    this is a pretty good tech article on the c-4 tranny. www.mustangcentral.net/tech/c4.html if i remember right you need to change the bellhousing as the c4 for the 200 and the c4 for the 302 use a different bellhousing and maybe convertor. someone will correct me if i'm wrong.:)

    heard the same thing, if you have a 250 the bell housing is the same as the Small Blocks.....correct me if I am wrong.....I do have brain farts from
    time to time.

    yup thats right , i have a 250 bell , the 170s and 200s are different

    The bellhousings are the same but the insides of the transmissions are not. The transmissions have fewer clutches and lower pressures than the transmissions for the V8s
