View attachment 134264 I took my car out for a drive today after sitting all winter and when I got out I noticed a seam tear on the drivers side seat back. I want to remove the seat back to take it to the upholstery shop. I removed the cotter pin that holds the seat back bracket to the bench rod thinking it would then slide outboard and off the center bracket but something is still holding it in place. Any ideas? You have to remove the entire seat first...

I don't know if that can be repaired. JMO. It's not a seam that has come loose, there is a piece of material missing.
as soon as you start using the seat it will continue to do the same elsewhere. the material looks to be dry rotted.

There us a cotter pin that need to be removed in the middle of the seat at the pivot point that needs to be removed. It is under the vinyl material in the middle. Once you have it, and the cotter pin is removed along the outside edge, the back will come right out. No need to remove the entire seat.

It is still nice and pliable but I had the shop go ahead and replace all the material it looks much better now.
