So, has anything ever come of this? I am about to tackle this type of project using a Lincoln Mark VII donor... will need to shorten the wheelbase by about 5 inches, but the width is near perfect...
I saw a youtube where a guy put a 65 mustang body on a honda civic chassis. The entire floor was cut out and there were many other fabrications. The end product looked very much like a mustang, but was sectioned in more than one way. The best part was watching all the reactions of people to it, via hidden camera, at a car show.
