I purchased a slim center console for the Maverick that is supposed to fasten to the carpet with attached felcro strips. Unfortunately the console does not match the maverick trans hump very well and I'm only getting good adhesion at the rear of the console. I'm thinking I may want to attempt to fasten the console to the floorboard with screws or bolts but wonder if someone here has tried that approach of if there are other recommendations. Other than that the console is a very nice piece.
I bought the same one and the velcro does not even pretend to stick to the carpet, I have not got around to installing it permanently so I would welcome some ideas also. I did bolt one to the floor in my 64 Falcon wagon and works great so I will probably just take that route
Not sure I could install one without bolting it in, the Velcro idea just doesn't tickle my fancy. I'm leaning towards one from these guys, I like the looks of the finished product in a couple of their customers cars. http://www.classictruckconsoles.com/mustang_shelby-350-500armrestdrinkholdersbucketbenchclassic.htm
I went with cup holders plus because they offered a slim version of what some others offer...most other consoles that I looked at in my price range were too wide to fit between my bucket seats.
I'll get some pics tonight...hard to see much since there is not much room between the seats and the console.
I have one that I bought from Summit Racing- Scott Drake Hump Hugger Consoles HH-BK . In my car it fits very well and its secured to floor with velcro and stays in place and tight. I tried to pull it up and took a lot of effort but I also have new carpet so maybe thats why.
Here are two pics but the quality and lighting is poor. The shot from the back shows that it fits pretty nice there but there is no contact at all to the floor at the middle of the console...you can get your fingers under it. But the felcro that does contact the carpet(which is new) is really hard to pull back off. But the whole thing wobbles pretty badly so I will definitely need to bolt it down. The console is actually black and the parts facing up are dark grey...hard to tell with the lighting.
Watch out for the mustang consoles that turn up at the dash, TMI makes them too and they will not fit under the dash in a maverick. you have to get one for a A/C car because it is straight at the front. I tried one in my car.
Thought that might be the case with the Mustang consoles, that's why I was looking at the ones in the link. They are just the base so it can be tweaked before having it covered.
I really like that console - I think it would work very well in my Maverick because it would fit behind the V-Gate shifter
Elmo, I like your car. As you can see my car is also a 1973 LDO and it is medium yellow gold. It has been in the family for 44 years. It is a fun sleeper. Lee "THE MAV" Richart
