LOL Well if you got plenty of money I'll guarantee you could buy another set for sure some how or another
If everybody thinks that they are too expensive go buy some parts for a new car that is even still in production. It's like you been living under a rock and don't have a clue at all.
Oh I will say this ; for these cars not to really be valued very highly by many more than their owners ... people seem to be trying to cash in on their potential to be nice cars lately.
Seems NADA sees something in them too on some models.... http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1972/Mercury/Comet/2-Door-Sedan/Values
You're Right and a Mustang II is a Great Car I mean a hopped up Pinto at it's finest I bet a Chevette with a 350 swap is worth twice what a Comet is to the Chevy lovers too and let's not forget all the other crappy cars people hate on too like let's say an Opel Manta bet Buick guys would sell their souls for one of these in Original Conditions Funny Nada offers a 1972 Comet 2 door sedan with big blocks and sunroofs
Please don't hijack the door panel thread. You've had your say. Lets all try to keep the thread on point and post what other vendors are charging so the community can benefit.
TBH.. I know exactly where you're coming from with some of your points above. I didn't buy my Comet to become a purist either but these cars have unique appeal to owners and spectators alike and have a dedicated following that will grow on you over time. I simply like these cars because they are lighter than average and if I decide chop the hell out of one it's not like I did the world a huge disservice by destroying an extremely rare and ultra valuable car in the process of building a lower budget street/strip/autocross type deal. But.. with all that said.. crapping on other peoples choices for how they spend their cash just because it doesn't line up with my taste, bank account balance, or opinions on any particular products worth doesn't make it right for me to discount others viewpoints or valuation either. A product is always worth what people are willing to pay for it. Always been that way.. always will be. So, by all means.. voice your opinion if you like.. I know I'm not shy and do it all the time even though it pisses many people off in the process.. but at least maintain some level of civility and respect in the process. You've made you point by now and nobody is attacking you for going towards the cheaper alternative of a race car/prostreet look. Live and let live. Oh.. and more products means more restorations. More restorations means more mainstream visibility. More visibility ends up resulting in yet more aftermarket support for everyone involved with these cars. You don;t have to buy the parts they make.. but it's damned nice to have the option of not scouring for used parts that are being sold at inflated prices just because the aftermarket hasn't arrived yet. The aftermarket is just arriving.. so welcome them with open arms and show a bit of extra appreciation for their effort to make a few more bucks in the process. Everyone wins.
Finally someone who understands an opinion and a point of view. I would shake your hand on that and I'm not trying to be uncivil or even disrespectful to anyone here, definitely not the vendor as these panels look like exact duplicates (my opinion unfortunately not worth the price made from the same problematic materials of these panels) and if you or anyone else want to buy these then by all means spend your money. I personally just can't see giving into the market at such a cost for my own reasons. Anyone else who felt like I may have been being uncivil or disrespectful my apologies and sorry for taking this off topic
LOL, so the panels should hold up as long as you don't let the sun shine on them. My Mav was my daily driver for 15 years, kinda hard to keep it out of the sun...
Sorry but like I've said before some people are just way too cheap when it comes to good parts for their cars so your saying that you took really good care of them?
