NEW REPRODUCTION - Maverick/Comet Door Panels

I'd like to install the third version down in my '70, and I have power windows, too.

 

Little bit pricy but nice tho..they gana have the arm rest an the handle cut out all ready or do u have to do it ur self??

 

While $325 is a good chunk of change and certainly not "cheap", I honestly don't think it's outrageous for panels that nice.

 

Question... Your site lists picture 4 as stock for my 73 but I actually have picture 1. Not sure site is wrong or someone swapped mine.

 

Picture 1 is like what was/is in my '72 Maverick base model (has a/c & power steering but nothing else 'special optioned) if your car isn't a base model and it has anything LDO or etc 'special options' it should have the wood grain panels or the chrome trimmed panel #4. I may be wrong but that's what I've taken from this site about LDO (Luxury Decor Options) & May Differ from year to year possibly

 

Depends, does your 73 have a package tray or a glove box?... both panels you are referring to are "standard" option panels. Later standard added the chrome mylar around the outside perimeter.

 

On page 3, the 3rd photo down is considered the LDO (Luxury Decor Option) style. Those with woodgrain were considered "Deluxe". Deluxe also offered in 1971 but used a basketweave material across the top instead of woodgrain.

 

Car has a package tray, non A/C 302, and short armrest with handle attached. Everything in interior is black, not sure if previous owner changed anything. Trying to figure out what should have came stock to decide which to buy.

 

You have the correct "Standard" door panels for your car. You can get the Deluxe panels with the woodgrain across the top if you'd like. I need to get a detailed photo of the back of the panels, they all may be interchangeable with all year Mavericks and Comets.

 

Nope! Especially when you consider how much time, effort, and cost some have put into restoring their cars to much better than factory condition. IMHO, adding a fresh set of top-notch new looking door panels to such a high visibility location of the interior would seem like a small price to pay.

Plus, how many sparkling new looking NOS panels are there floating around these days to choose from anyways, right?

 

Unless you are trying to build a museum piece, or are a purist, these cars are not cars whereby you destroy their value by deviating from originally equipped items such as door panels. Just select the ones you like best.

 

Exactly ! I think these look amazing but I still prefer the looks of the scottrodfab door panels and for price wise .... I could save for that later IF still available.
Now given if I had the $$$ I would settle for these beautiful panels but I have to wonder will they succumb to the same problems being made identical to the originals. I.E ripping, shrinkage, and everything that goes wrong with them.

I know some people don't hardly drive theirs but I want to daily mine once it's capable. I mean being 46 years old (not me but not too far from it at 32 yrs old) I understand life takes it's toll on cars but should I live that much longer I wonder will they hold up to it for the money and not just look nice.

Any of that make sense to anyone ???

 

Agree, its a little pricey but worth it for a new set of quality panels. I will be getting a set for sure in near future.

Its not about value. If you don't get it me explaining wont help any.

 

I agree 100%. I find the attitude that "my Maverick's gotta be factory original" really annoying.

 

Well worth the money for good panels.I'd much rather have these then some aluminum ones.
