NEW REPRODUCTION - Maverick/Comet Door Panels

Greetings all, after years of waiting and working very closely with the vendor, below is from an email I just received from the VP of Distinctive Industries:

Hi Brian,

We will be releasing the Maverick door panels in the next 30 days.

I have not informed my dealers yet but will do so in the next week or so.

Now you know before the vendors!!....A big "thank you" goes out to Jeff Thomas (rthomas771) for supplying samples years ago. I will get more details regarding the 71 panel with comfortweave.

Anyone know what the backing is on these? Better than the stock masonite?

 

There's nothing wrong with Masonite. There's supposed to be a layer of 4mil plastic between the door and the panel as a moisture barrier.

 

Maybe not Larry, but something a little more durable for the pins would be nice.

 

Mine lasted 40 years. How much more durable do they need to be? There are tools made for removing the clips without damaging the masonite backing.

Distinctive Industries 1971-73 Mustang Standard Front Door Panels feature the original Corinthian grain in 32 oz. vinyl. The dielectric patterns and pleats are correct. The correct hole placement is pre-cut into the panel and backed by die cut fiber board, just like the originals.

Where are the holes?

 

The photos are of pre-production panels.... these are made to inspect any tooling changes that may be required. These are the last ran and passed quality control.
