I did a front disc brake upgrade on my 73 Maverick. Looking at it now I'm not sure if the metal brake line, hydraulic hose and mounting hardware are installed 100% correct. The disc brakes are factory standard Maverick. Anyone have a photo or two they can share.

Can you show us a photo of what yours looks like?

My brake lines are standard drum brake. Everything fits but the routing is convoluted. Here's a picture from the drivers side.

You really need to have the line in front of the spindle, like in the picture I posted.

Get the front lines from a Disc brake Maverick or Comet. They're real easy to swap out. I did mine that way.

As Craig and Larry mentioned about moving existing bracket for hard/soft lines forward, on 74 and later cars had both mounting holes for either drum or disc brakes. Earlier cars, like yours and my 73, only had mounting holes for drums, (as disc brakes did not become available until 74) which where located under the center of the UCA...... so you will have to drill new holes farther forward into the frame......

I did not have to drill any holes on my '73. I used all existing holes, but the front lines and mounting tabs (or whatever they're called) were from a disc brake car ('75 model). If you do need to drill more holes for some reason, it's easy to do. The bolts are self-tapping.

Thanks for all the great advise! I'll be posting other questions. I'm praying I can get the car running so we can make the trip to the National meet.

I used my existing hardlines and brackets in the stock drum location. I can provide pictures this evening, once I get home.

Not really liking that sharp bend in the flex-hose. Obviously it works, but definitely not ideal.
It's incredibly easy to install the proper front brake line sections that locate the bracket and hose end in front of the spindle, as the fitting is on the front of the caliper as opposed to the back of the back-plate on drum brakes.
