i went autocrossing again today. it was hot! 90 degrees. i didnt spin out this time! in the first video i go on the wrong side of a cone early and you hear an expletive from me. heres my second run. it was a clean one. heres some out of car video im starting to get the hang of this turning thing. the only difference in the car from this time from last was different brake pads. some one gave me some half used racing pads for the front to try. they made a big difference in stopping ability. you can see on the out side runs puffs of tire smoke on the entry of a turn from the tire locking up.
The resonance from the sound of your car in the video started making the woofer sitting on top of my computer vibrate with a metallic sound. It was like sitting in the car! How cool is that? Keep the videos coming!

its difficult to drive the car and get out of car video! it is cool. i would like to try to do a split screen sync of in car and out side video at the same time. ill see if the go pro video editor can do that.
around here (san diego) we only have 1/8th mile tracks. i find them very boring. i plan on going to fontana some time to run their 1/4 mile some time. honestly im having more fun autocrossing than ive had dragracing so the desire to do it is not very high right now.

Performance Friction Carbon Metallic Racing Brake Pads http://www.hrpworld.com/store/default/01-compound-12mm-thick-race-ready.html these pads work really well but they dust like crazy. just on a easy drive home my wheels were showing a lot of dust on them and after a weekend of racing my wheels look like black chrome! i think ill be switching pads for racing and street use.
Chris, does Bryant's car look like it has.. maybe?.. just a bit of excessive front end sway? Main reason I ask is that every time I see Bryant run this thing on the track it seems to waddle a bit too much for the amount of time and money invested here. Now, I don't have any firsthand experience in these specific cars.. but more than plenty in many of the other similarly suspended old Fords(though I do realize this is coil-over up front) and it seems almost like the sway bar bushings are not pre-loaded properly. And @ Bryant. As usual.. from the hip.. constructive criticism.. no offense. I know you're still in your learning curve here and just wanted to quickly mention that there is plenty of time to be gained here by learning how to occasionally double foot those pedals to scrub a bit of speed off without having to be in and out of throttle so often or as excessively. Think.. "2 foot rally driving". This is obviously much harder on the brakes and increase wear.. and dusting.. but allows you to avoid unsettling the suspension nearly as dramatically and as often in "full off.. back on again..oops.. a bit too much throttle!.. slightly back off.. regain traction.. back in it again" transient throttle response issues. With so much power and such lightweight riding on a live axle rear-end like this.. you're essentially yawing the car around and into traction loss when you try to get back in it to abruptly and/or too heavily. Reducing that affect in even any small amount will allow you to run quicker through the corners without unsettling/unloading the suspension/tire and not have to be transitioning the throttle pedal over such wide ranges.. which makes throttle modulation smoother and more seamless.. typically equaling fewer throttle mistakes. Faster, funner, and also more controllable. Maybe take it out into a local parking lot and try it out once.. I think you'll be a bit surprised as to how you can keep speeds up and still partially stay into the throttle for faster smoother exits and get back into the power easier without as much wheel-spin. Basically.. allows you to drive in deeper.. scrub speed with the brakes while going into neutral throttle(not completely getting out of it) and back into power better, faster, and with greater overall control.
