Anyone have one? Looking at a Champion 2-row at Jeggs, Cant remember which one I used in my last Mav, but had to reposition the petcock to get it to fit. This is what I am looking at.......... http://www.jegs.com/i/Champion-Cooling-Systems/166/EC339/10002/-1
I just put in an Engineered Cooling Products radiator in the '72 last week. It has 2 rows, but the cooling tubes are 2 times normal size and these will cool better than a 3 core small tube. I like the style of the rounded corner tank much better than the Champion tank. It fit fine, but I did need to add 2 mounting holes to line up with the Maverick mounting holes. Was able to modify a Mustang shroud to fit too. Shipped from Chicago. $199 plus shipping. They make both passenger and drivers side discharge (my '69 engine used passenger as pictured). http://www.speedcooling.com/radiators/cat_2.html
Griffin makes a direct fit aluminum radiator. It's $630.00. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/gri-7-70036 I don't know of any $200.00 aftermarket radiator that actually bolts right in and has the hose fittings in the correct place. You get what you pay for.
You know about one now .......... No trouble with hoses or petcock. Bolted up fine to the car, but I needed to add 2 holes for the shroud and modify the shroud bottom slightly for the fan I'm using. Here is a pic in the car
If these 2 rows can keep up with a strong 302, I would think it would allow additional clearance for an electric fan & shroud. From what I have read on the forum, clearance can be very tight.
Here are 2 pages worth reading at ECP if interested ............. they sold me with their engineering logic, looks, and USA company. About the company: http://www.speedcooling.com/about/info_1.html About the radiators: http://www.speedcooling.com/index.php?_a=viewDoc&docId=28
The 340 - but let me be clear, my engine is a 1969 and has the water pump that uses the passenger side inlet and outlet. They have one that is the same 22" radiator but has an outlet on the drivers side - that number is a 339
I'm a Champion Radiator Guy. I've had three or four different ones in my Mav. Tim has one in his Mav. and notched the strut brace for the petcock.
