About the red color now in your fuel. It happens with this particular sealer and reports I have read say that it will go away with no lasting effects. I myself most recently have used the 2 part mix from Eastwoods with no problems. I do have the tanks boiled out at a radiator shop and any pinholes welded up before sealing.
Any decent radiator shop can boil out the tank to remove any corrosion and then braze any pinholes they find. Then the tank can be coated inside and painted outside. Will last many years.
Well a month or so later ,and still the red fuel in the filter glass. I can deal with that. I got the car insured, Taged ,and have drove it for a week now. I sealed the outer surface corner of the fuel tank with por-15 ,it looks and works good. Baby girl rode with me today.
checker board 2014 I have been working on a 4 inch square checker board Paint scheme . I have decided the these were too small. I am going with a 6 inch square next. The Red Kote tank sealer is still good. pictures were submitted, hope they work.
I layed it off from the Quater panel extention vertically,to streight under the windows horizontally, with a ruler. I will over lap the doors like Fast Eddie Shartmans boss 429 Yellow Comet. I have too many checks ,or too small of ones. The tape gaps will have to go,checks need to be back to back. This a mock up, More pics to come!
Vinyl is OK, I guess, but no self respecting paint guy would use vinyl for anything but but masking to lay down paint. I would agree with DaveB in that it looks like tile. Why not give it life and have them wave like a flag? And another suggestion would be to start at the doors and start the paint ghost and fade to a solid color as you go back unless you want a solid flag edge. This would also mean that 1/2 the checks would be the body color.
I'll be another one that says to go bigger on the squares. I'll bet that 8 inches works well. I like the fade idea too.
Here is a welding helmet I just painted for a customer. I really like this side view where is looks like the flag actually comes off the helmet. You could get this waving effect across the back of the car.
I totally agree.. I'm no painter though lol. I just can't figure out how to make the checks without a line. All your suggestions are things I like also. Looks awesome! Do you paint cars? I am supposed to paint my wife's new dish cabinet doors red and white checks.. I been putting it off..
